We know it in a similar way. In our case, it was the brewing unit. We took the filter out, put the whole unit in warm water for a day (according to Melitta-Servise), cleaned it thoroughly, put the filter back in and replaced the seals. The problem was then solved. In order to be able to remove and replace the unit easily, it is essential to grease the seals of the connections and the drive axle (thinly) from time to time (special grease from the accessories).
Originally, there were also instructions from various manufacturers to grease the brewing unit in other places, but Melitta refuses to do this, despite having the same brewing unit. Saeco and others have the same brewing unit and more experience than Melitta. Search for: "Grease Saeco brew group". You're sure to find what you're looking for.
