Melitta caffeo solo brewing unit

After removing and cleaning the brewing unit the symbols for cleaning and stand-by flash alternatley. I've tried removing and reinserting the unit 100 times. Have turned off and on repeatedly and attempted to operate the microswitch by hand. Any ideas?
