Miele CM 5300: Milk foam splashes and spatters

Milk frothing causes problems

Hello,

I have been using a Miele CM 5300 for some time and often make cappuchino. Leidr abruptly the milk foam formation no longer works properly. Milk is sucked in, it comes first foam and then it splashes and spits only. Steam is obviously there.
I have cleaned everything carefully, including the milk foam cleaning program (before I always just rinsed) and the machine 2x new decalcified. No change. There is nothing in the milk foam valve (where the hose plugs in), it has passage and is clean. The line and the two coupling pieces are also clean and free.

What can I do to make the machine foam again?

Thanks

Karsten Steinke

Hello, it can have several causes that your Miele no longer makes milk foam, the most important you have already worked through so that you should now look at the ceramic valve that sits behind the water tank. On the ceramic valve sits an air intake valve, the clean.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I have to disassemble the housing for this, right?
I had not yet disassembled the Miele, only what was necessary for cleaning.

Is there a sketch?

Thanks

This is pretty simple but proceed carefully. Remove Torx screws and then remove the top cover then you can push the side panels back a bit and then remove them.

Thanks, I'll tackle that on the WE :-)

It works again. The red rubber valve under the top cover, right next to the water tank, was seated shut. The opening is also tiny.

Thanks for the help.

Can I buy this air intake valve as a spare part?
What is it called exactly?

I can't find all the Torx Screws! There is one vertical screw at the back right corner under the bean cover and another horizontal going in from behind the water tank. After that I'm stuck?
Can anyone help? And is it possible to obtain a service manual anywhere?

Simply lift the lid at the back. It works.

Unfortunately, my problem is not solved after all. Whenever I do something, it works for a short time.

This is what I have done so far:
- Intensively descaled the machine
- Descaled the milk system (descaler in the tank and milk container) with descaler.
- Did the same with milk cleaner (cleaner in the tank AND milk container)
- Fitted a new spout
- Cleaned the foam nozzle well
- Fitted a new suction hose.
- Replaced the rubber valve on the ceramic valve. There was also some lime on it.

Hot milk goes completely without problems, milk foam now and then. The beginning is always OK and after a few seconds it spits.

Do you have any ideas what I could do?

Thanks

Karsten

Hello, have you possibly machined the red cap?
That would be a K:O: criterion.

With the first one, I "treated" the hole in the rubber plug once with a toothpick. Then it worked again for two days. Could have been a coincidence. Now there's a new one in it (expensive as hell), which unfortunately hasn't really changed anything.

Maybe, but check the temperature sensor, which is located on the instantaneous water heater or if a steam generator is installed there.

Can I ask if we are talking about the same machine? i.e. the Miele CM5300.

I've finally found out how to get the lid off and can find no valve near the water tank. Everything appears to be much more tucked away at the front of the machine and not easy to get at.

I do have a manual for the 5200 and I wonder if this is the one being discussed above?

Hello everyone,

I came across this post because of another problem, but I have similar problems with the lid...
I have loosened the two screws and can lift the lid at the back by approx. 1 cm. Unfortunately, nothing happens in the middle of the machine and it looks as if the lid is still screwed on there. Could someone write something about how to get the lid off?

Best regards
Peter
