Delonghi Magnifica steam problem

We descaled our Magnifica 4400 then put it on the shelf for months. We took it out and descaled it again to ready it for use. But though hot water comes out of the coffee spouts, neither steam nor hot water will come out of the steam wand. We have made sure the nozzle is clean and reamed out the steam pipe some. When we try to get steam the machine gives us the famous "adjust your grind...too fine" error. We know how to open the machine but would have no idea what to do in there.

PS to my post. We have tried cleaning the steam wand plastic nozzle and have also gently problem the steam pipe with a pipe cleaner as far as we could go. Nothing has helped. Because we get water and coffee out of the coffee/espresso nozzels, we have a pump. The problem is somewhere is the steam circuit or water path? I did see a video on how to replace your entire steam valve, but don't know how to access that on this machine. Might not be the problem.
