EA8150 doesn't start. Water through steam nozzle.

I've had this machine for about 6 years without much issue. I've opened it up two times: first to clean years of built-up grime and then again to replace the piston a couple months ago.

Today the machine refused to start. It turns on and begins to do the self-rinse, but instead of completing it, it asks for a water container like when cleaning it. Sometimes water will come out of both the coffee tubes as well as the steam nozzle, eventually displaying the electrical plug sign. There's also a bit of water under the machine (this has happened occasionally for a while, I usually assumed it was the drip tray but today it was empty)

Any body knows what could be the issue?

Hi, sounds like a defective seal inside the brew group under the lower plunger.
Possibly also check piston seals.
It seems unlikely that a hose is defective.

So if it is water and no coffee is the brewing chamber or lower plunger in my opinion not the culprit.
Sounds to me like a safety stop due to lack of water, otherwise the plug symbol would be permanently on in the event of a defect.

Since your problem leaves much room for speculation, test the following first.

Check the water tank and the check valve for function. If water filter installed, remove it and test again. At the tap where the water tank is placed, check the fine screen. When the water tank is full, mark the level and let the machine stand overnight.
If something is missing, it is the seal at the inlet where the water tank is inserted, which are often leaking.
Flow meter is also a very common candidate.

The water at the steam and outlet nozzle comes out can be more likely to the valve block, or the water supply system.

Test times and please give feedbackGrussRalph
