Hello,

Since the Philips HD8841 is probably identical in construction with some Saeco machines I post the topic here...

The machine only dispenses hot water via the foamer and no longer via the brewing unit. Painted coffee powder is drained dry into the coffee grounds container...

I guess there's some kind of switch valve that controls the water outlet between the frother and the brewing unit, but I'd like to check that with you beforehand...

What can I do?

MfG

Yes, but the water only comes out via the milk shower and not via the coffee spout.

I suppose there is a kind of changeover valve to control the water output of the milk foamer and brewing unit/coffee spout, is that correct? So this could be defective...

In the spare part range I found only one 2-way switching valve:

Before the valve sits a small plastic distributor, which is mostly clogged with lime...but must remove, and externally decalcify or exchange. Here the spare part number 421941279742, on the drawing third sheet part 9... and if you have to open the machine, clean the coffee spout immediately, it is definitely dirty.

Plastic distributor found and removed - unfortunately not clogged.
What else could it be? Which electronic component controls whether the water is directed to the brewing group or to the milk frother/tea water?

Have the same problem with my Philips HD8827. Water only comes out of the nozzle for hot water and not from the brew opening. Neither when rinsing nor when making coffee.

Have already removed the coil of the hot water valve once, but apparently the valve itself is defective / dirty.

We actually have a decalcification system installed in our house, so I would rule out lime as the cause. Are there any other tips?

I have the same problem with two EP2231 from Philips/Saeco of comparable age, which failed promptly.
The valves are demonstrably no longer controlled by the microcontroller on the electronic module! The control outputs (pin 21, 22) no longer give an active signal.
The failure of both machines occurred after they had been taken out of operation for approx. 14 days due to vacation or leakage!?!
A malicious person!
I have not been able to procure new or functional replacement modules. I expected a better service from Philips/Saeco and can now throw both machines in the garbage can.
I wish the owners of the HD 8XXX machines more success!
Yours sincerely

Have found the following:
Philips/Senseo do not give any information about how long spare parts are kept or what lifetime they calculate!
Other manufacturers give 10 years for both!
In any case, on my next coffee machine will not be Philips/Senseo!
