Brewing unit lever stuck (out of machine

Went to make coffee, no coffee coming out although beans still grinding and milk froth /heat working. Cleaned brewing unit, removed easily but now trying to reinsert unit and the lever won’t move anti clockwise when I press red button. I’ve tried in & out of actual coffee machine. Can’t see why or if anything stuck?
