Hello,
I recently bought Jura ENA 4 for home use. I read some threads here regarding maintenance and care. If I understand correctly using the filter is waste of money and decalcification is much more important. What is then the best way to take care of the machine? The use will be 5-7 cups a day. Water hardness is about 10dH. The water pipes in the building were replaced 8 years ago.
Questions (and my suggestions): Rinse after each cup (or two cups in a row)? (YES)
Use the Claris Smart filter? (not sure but from the posts here the answer should be NO)
If not using the filter how often to decalcify? (every 3 months?)
How often to use the cleaning programme? (once a month, but not sure, maybe more often)
ENA 4 does not have the hot water or milk programme. How many coffees should I prepare (and drain out) before drinking it after decalcification / cleaning? (no idea here)
Is it ok to open the cover after some time and try to clean the parts of the brew unit that are accessible without putting it out of the machine? How often? (no idea again)
I would be happy if there are any other thoughts not mentioned above. I would like to use the machine for many years. Thanks a lot for every answer smile.gif

I recommend not to use a filter and to decalcify regularly, it is also cheaper. Because it does not have to be the original Jura care products I call you to each point good alternative products that I can recommend and are suitable for Jura:

1) Descaling: Set the machine to your water hardness, then the machine automatically shows you when you need to descale. Every 3 months at 10°dH is a good guideline. As a descaler, use ceragol Premium Descaler, which is very gentle.

2) Cleaning: Rinsing after each cup is unnecessary, important is only when switching on and off, the coffee machine should rinse automatically, that's enough.
Perform the cleaning program about every 14 days or after 40-50 cups, also for this I recommend an alternative product, ceragol Premium cleaning tablets.

3) Otherwise, in the evening, always pull the drip tray a little out of the device so that moisture can escape from the Jura in the best possible way and no mold forms.
