Hello everybody,

my Orchestro Plus has a hot water light after switching on. Coffee is not available. If hot water or steam is selected, the water pump runs for approx. 20 seconds. Then the red tap LED (which stands for fill in water) lights up in addition to the hot water light. I opened the machine once and did the whole thing with the case open. You can see from the hose in front of the pump that it is probably trying to attract water (small back and forth movement of a small air bubble in the hose in front of the pump). However, it seems that somewhere behind the pump there is no way forward.
As I am right with this assessment? Which procedure is now recommended?

Many thanks in advance,

Johannes

If the pump runs quieter than usual, there is a blockage behind the pump. First pull off the hose from the pump and see if there is any water left.

I can rinse, only hot water and steam don't work. I measured 220V on the solenoid valve when hot water is selected. Guess the solenoid valve's defective. Can I test that? Does that have to click audibly or something, if it's okay?

Yes, the solenoid valve gives a quiet "click" of itself when it switches. You can remove it and remove the coil (the black part with the power connections). If you then try to get a magnet on the silver tube you would have to be able to switch the valve manually and hear the "click". If so, the coil should be over. If you don't hear anything, it is certainly worth opening the valve completely and cleaning it - perhaps only the tappet is stuck inside...
