No coffee after ceramic valve cleaning

Before I tell you my problem, I would like to introduce myself. I am almost 80 years old and have been repairing coffee machines for 20 years.
After cleaning the CV (powder from the water filter in the valve), the rinse water comes out of the steam valve.
When I draw coffee the machine grinds but only water comes out of the steam valve.
My question is can you put the gear in the CV wrong.

Would be very grateful for a tip.
