As may be known, the same brewing groups are used in the SCHAERER Opal, Siena, SOLIS Master Pro, Top and WMF 1000. However, the lower brewing piston has obviously been designed as a disposable part to be replaced as part of a service. The coffee dirt that accumulates can only contribute negatively to the coffee taste experience.
A modification I can strongly advise anyone to make. When cleaning the brewing group, the brewing sieve can be removed and cleaned in just a few steps. To remove the lower brewing piston, simply remove the open plastic snap ring located on the lower brewing piston. Then simply pull the brewing piston upwards out of the cylinder.
I have modified as follows (suggestion from another forum, thank you.):
Brewing piston drilled through from above with 3.8 mm drill bit (standing drill)Brewing sieve cut off with cutter knife, blade approx. 3,5cm extended(only) brewing sieve 5,0 mm drilled, with countersink countersunkli>thread cut into piston with M5 tap
sieve mounted with stainless steel screw longitudinal slot countersunk head M5 carefully tightened (better: cross slot)
