Delonghi ESAM 5500 - General error

Morning Morning,

Maybe an expert can help me here.

I bought a defective ESAM 5500 with the error message "General Error" or "General Alarm". I wanted to get the machine ready again.

A first measurement showed that a heating coil was interrupted by the thermoblock. I ordered this and exchanged it incl. upper limit switch and cable set and brewing piston.

Error pattern still "General Alarm".

During a test drive of the engine, I noticed that it was very loud and did not reach the top. With bridged door I could see that the trestle was locked on the threaded rod and was not pulled up. Probably in form of the heavy brewing unit.
I then replaced the gearbox and lubricated the brewing unit. Unfortunately the error remains.

About the current situation:
- The error occurs immediately after the power supply, no initialization!- In
test mode
,
the machine initializes and sets the brewing unit to home position.
- All testable units work in test mode without further problems -
The temperature sensors give values of approx. 10kOhm (plugged on the board)
.

The thermoblock with sensor and switch and the gear with lower limit switch and reed board

are
exchanged.

I have the feeling that the error is just stored in the memory, the machine doesn't even try the self-test at start. Is there a reset procedure besides the display test? I can't get into the menu of the machine because of the error message.

Measuring equipment and basic technical knowledge is available.

Many thanks for tips and remarks!

crossover:rolleyes:

First of all, thanks for all the helpful tips and suggestions!

The error could be completely eliminated by replacing the power board.

I myself could not find any error on the circuit board. The re-soldering of all components as well as the measurements did not result in any errors. All information was also available at the IC of the board. The board also showed no traces of smoke.

I personally believe that the error is somewhere at the IC - all reset suggestions found in the internet did not bring any change or did not work at all.

Well, the fault has been eliminated in any case.

After the circuit board has been replaced, the coffee machine must draw water for the first time, as with the initial setup. The hot water outlet must be fitted for this purpose.
