Dear members of the forum
,The following occurs with my Krups EA81 coffee machine since the last descaling process:
After starting the machine, it automatically goes to the rinse icon, nothing else can be selected but start.
After rinsing, the situation repeats again, then the plug icon appears.
Plug out, wait more than 10 seconds, plug in, same scenario.
Using the reset method and diagnostics described in another forum post on calibration, the error message d05 and the plug icon appears.
Do any of you have a tip on what I can do to stop the purge scenario?
Thanks in advance.
Christoph

Hello,

after Google and youtube I landed here.
Had the same problem.
2x rinse then plug icon. This process certainly repeated 10x.
No change >>> no coffee

After opening the machine ( at yt vid: "Krups Loses water under machine. Cause and repair. The tappet seal defective" well described)
I saw in the level housing (inlet fresh water) a quarter softened coffee bean,
hoses pulled off as far as it goes blown through, additionally removed the flow meter and opened. Everything clean.
In a 1st attempt at repair, only the piston was removed and cleaned.
Here the sieve unscrewed, was well sealed and clogged. Then came 4-5 coffees.
Then again this 2x rinse + plug symbol.

Since the piston sieve was tight, the suspicion that the opposite sieve of the brewing unit looked the same. However, this can not be unscrewed without counter-holding and great effort, because it rotates with the push rod.

Finally, descaler was simply poured directly on the sieve of the brewing unit, so that it was covered and in the course of internal cleaning / assembly about 1h to act.

After completion, descaler was poured into the water tank and several rinses made. Somewhere along the line, the machine switched back to normal mode.

Then another complete tank rinsed with only water.
Then a cleaning with a tablet and another rinse.

Somewhere between the rinses, half of the missing and completely softened coffee bean was "excreted" via the drip tray.

Since then, the machine has been running again.

To date, about 15 times double coffee has been drawn.

The next time a malfunction of this type occurs, drill out the maintenance opening under the machine as shown in the above video and hold the push rod to unscrew the brewing unit sieve.

I think it was a mixture of calcification and the quarter bean in the system.
Total hardness of the water in my case is about 24 dh, so it's quite hard.
To prevent this, it probably helps to decalcify more often. (apparently manually not possible, therefore as can be read here by rinsing)
Unfortunately, the machine has asked me to do this in the approximately 2 years of operation only once.
Previously, it was with my sister also already about 2-3 years in operation.

No spare parts were needed for this action(s).
If due again, the push rod seal will be ordered beforehand. Maybe also as a precaution the two O-rings of the brewing piston. (still looked good, were greased with Vaseline after cleaning)

Me has the action (2x opening, cleaning, etc.) total cost about 3h time. Maybe this post helps to do it in half the time.
Ne new Krups costs about 300 EUR. Have weighed after the first opening a few times, whether it is worth it. Now I am mechanically on the device but reasonably fit and will keep it.

(>Spelling and expression are forgiven me because of the time)

Hello,

after Google and youtube I ended up here.
Had the same problem.
rinse 2x then plug symbol. Repeated this process certainly 10x.
No change >>> no coffee

After opening the machine ( at yt Vid: "Krups loses water under machine. Cause and repair. The plunger seal is defective" well described)
I saw a quarter of a softened coffee bean in the fill level housing (fresh water inlet),
removed the hoses as far as possible, also removed and opened the flow meter. Everything clean.
During the first attempt at repair, only the piston was removed and cleaned.
Unscrewed the sieve here, it was well sealed and clogged. Then 4-5 coffees were brewed.
Then rinse 2x again + plug symbol.

As the piston filter was tight, it was suspected that the opposite filter of the brewing unit looked the same. However, this could not be unscrewed without counter-holding and great effort, as it rotates with the plunger rod.

Finally, descaler was simply poured directly onto the filter of the brew group so that it was covered and left to work for approx. 1 hour during internal cleaning/reassembly.

After completion, descaler was poured into the water tank and several rinsing processes were carried out. Somewhere along the line, the machine switched back to normal mode.

Then rinsed through a complete tank with just water.
Then cleaned with a tablet and rinsed again.

Somewhere between the rinsing processes, half a missing and completely softened coffee bean was "expelled" via the drip tray.

Since then, the machine has been running again.

To date, approx. 15x double coffees have been made.

The next time this type of fault occurs, just drill out the maintenance opening under the machine as in the video above and hold the push rod to unscrew the sieve of the brewing unit above it.

I think it was a mixture of calcification and the quarter bean in the system.
Total hardness of my water is approx. 24 dh, so quite hard.
To prevent this, it probably helps to descale more often. (apparently not possible to do manually, so as you can read here, do it by rinsing)
Unfortunately, the machine has only asked me to do this once in its approx. 2 years of operation.
Before that, it had already been in operation at my sister's for approx. 2-3 years.

No spare parts were needed for this action(s).
If it is due again, the push rod seal will be ordered beforehand. Perhaps also the two O-rings of the brewing piston as a precaution. (still looked good, were greased with Vaseline after cleaning)

The job (2x opening, cleaning etc.) took me about 3 hours in total. Maybe this article will help you to do it in half the time.

Thanks for the detailed description, but what if you're not that tech savvy? I don't even know how to find things...inside, unsure.gifunsure.gif
