after I've been struggling with our own EAM 3200 (see other fred), I've also dedicated myself to my sister's leaking EAM 3250 Rapid Cappuccino.
Symptom: 50% water ends up as coffee in the cup, the rest as clear water in the drip tray. The machine is from 2007, the reference counter is at 8974.
The thermoblock or the sheet metal between the block and the brewing piston that I suspect at first doesn't look so great, see photo. somewhere it seems to leak, says the rust (and: yes, the machine needs a thorough cleaning...) au weia ).
Question: does it make more sense to replace either the complete thermoblock - or only the brewing flask with sheet metal and hoses - instead of the maintenance set XL? The thermoblock can still be opened, cleaned and resealed at the EAM.
Where should I also look for leaks? No water collects under the machine, it only lands in the bowl.
Take the set, but before you order it check if you can take the thermoblock apart, if you say that rust is already there it can get heavy, but it doesn't have to be.
Here is the manual:
Overhaul thermoblock
If you have overhauled the thermoblock, everything should be fine. Do you have a second thermoblock for steam/hot water in it?
I was able to disassemble the thermoblock without any major problems. It now lies in individual parts in the descaling bath, the disassembled brewing piston unit ditto.
The mounting plate around the opening for the brewing piston is quite rusty, it leaves and trickles already. Would almost be a matter for sandblasting... unfortunately i have neither blasting equipment nor blasting cabinet
BG and Thermoblock have been decalcified and thoroughly cleaned by me. After the installation of the various seals (and a "new" mounting plate; at this point many thanks to Stefan) - and the meticulous cleaning of the entire machine - the machine makes 1a coffee again, without leaks or other spirits.
