Saeco machine only dispensing half the coffee

I have the Xelsis Suprema SM8889/00, which we bought a year ago.

Starting a couple months ago, when I brew a coffee, I only get a fraction of the quantity requested. For example, I made a 220ml coffee, but only got 125ml in the cup, and measured the remaining 95ml of water in the drip tray!

However, if I make a cup of hot water, I get the full amount.

It should also be noted that the liquid in the drip tray is water, not coffee.

I've tried resetting the machine to factory settings, running the descale twice, running the coffee oil removal twice, and cleaning and greasing the brew group. Nothing has solved the problem.

The only other option is to send it in for service but if there is an easy way to fix it myself at home I'd much rather that. Any ideas?

Brew group seal or support valve defective.
Water can also run into the drip tray via the pressure relief valve after the pump.
Strainer Brew group closed?
Does the pump become quieter when you draw coffee?

thanks! the pump seems to sound ok, so I guess if it's like you say, Brew group seal or support valve defective, it will need to go in for repair.

This will be the second repair in the year since we bought it so I"m inclined to ask for a new machine. For what these machines cost I don't want a repaired one! mad.gif

The device has a valve block, there are 4 valves installed. One or more valves can be defective. Mostly the drain valve.
1. drain valve: After the brewing process, there is still some water in the heater and to reduce the pressure, the valve opens and releases the pressure into the expansion chamber. If the valve no longer closes properly, part of the water goes directly into the expansion chamber during brewing and runs into the water tray.
2. The valves are screwed onto a block, they like to come loose and then the whole thing no longer has a seal and the water also runs into the tray. Remove the block and tighten all screws, there are 8 of them. If this does not help, install a new block.
3. The Teflon tube is broken, i.e. where the brew group is plugged in, is when you look into the device top left a small inconspicuous tube, this should be something 3-4 cm long, is there only a stub with about 1-2 cm is the Teflon tube broken off also there runs some water into the bowl. If the part is broken off, this is often still in the receptacle of the brew group. If it is still in the BG, grab the part with a very thin and long screw and pull it out. Then replace Teflon tube, this is very complex, because the upper part, where the grinder and the valve block are on it must be lifted. With the problem, the left side panel and the rear panel must be removed, the door is only unhooked.

After dismantling, cleaning and greasing the brew group, I have 185/200 ml in the cup again instead of 120/200 ml.
The same problem again after 2-3 months:huh: !
But I have now ordered a new brew group and lo and behold, the coffee machine is once again dispensing the quantity that I set (195/200ml).smile.gif
