Our DeLonghi ESAM 5500 is already 6 years old, but it ran perfectly, most mornings for three cups.

Now there was a small bang and it smelled something burnt. Quickly was the KV in suspicion, but the min 5 hours off (not at the main switch rear but the top left) was.

The KV makes no more mucks, have it behind switched off and waited, nothing goes, again from current separated...nevertheless not.

Unscrewed and looked for a fuse, everything is like new in there, hoses all still transparent and boards clean, also nothing burnt.

But no fine fuse - no function. I would love to have it running again, firstly no money for a new one and secondly super happy with the unit.

Who can help us?

Hello
,Did it blow a fuse or the RCD?
The socket still has power?

Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it?

Hi,

Socket had power - Fi there is not with us. A multimeter I have but am not fit in it. But I think with a little help I can measure what, where.

I'm surprised because it was not even on and yet it has briefly crackled and stank.

If it smelled burnt it can come from the circuit board. Even if the machine is in standby, the system is partly under voltage.

Put a picture of the power board so you know what kind is installed.

Hello,

Thanks for your help, hope you mean this board!

I have also already measured voltage blue and black cable have 230 volts together.

However, the two light blue parts (think they are capacitors) on the blue cable have
some smoke / soot on it that you can easily wipe away. But they are not deformed (gone up).

Kind regards, McMamoPhoto

You should check the transformer on the board whether it still supplies the secondary voltage. However, I have the values also not in the head. And the measuring points also not. Müsst I times look if I have a board that is identical to check that.
I would then report again.

Thanks Slavic,

I'll see if I can get to it and see what comes up.

Thanks for your support.

Hello,

I have now removed the motherboard and photographed, believe here is definitely the error now only the question of how to repair and who is the culprit that such a resistor simply gives up?

This is not a resistor, but a coil. This is then also the reason why the transformer gets no voltage, thus the processor and also the control board is not supplied with voltage. Are there broken conductors on the bottom side? It is hard to see on the picture.

Could be a defective transformer. Hard to say.

Hello Schlawi,

thanks for the quick reply, short question what is on the board all stored, I have exactly this board found on eBay for 35, - €.

I would trust myself to solder the coil in the travo myself, because the circuit board looks good, but I would have to have data for the spare part :-(

Clearly there is no 100% tige statement, but runs the machine again with it?

In other words, would they put in a used "foreign" replacement part?

There is also someone who replaces the, then repaired it. Am unsure what caused the damage, not that I have to replace the brew group / heater, etc. afterwards still with.

On the circuit board are stored the number of cups and your quantity programming. No data that are too important.

I think that there age-related the coil has given up the ghost.
With the circuit board you have to look that you have the same. There are 2 or 3 different for the model.

You can also send the board to be repaired. I think you mean the dealer in Hamburg?

So again give feedback - in Hamburg is a very nice Italian: eBay buy - he adjusts price to model - then you send his board to him and also get his board back 32, - plus postage. Assembled and runs like the first day. Are many cables on it but 4-5 cell phone photos are enough and it can leihe anyone!

Thanks again for your help!
