Caffeo CI - Coffee runs partly in a drip tray

Hello everyone,

I have had a Melitta Caffeo CI E970 for about 5 years. So far, I have brought it to about 6500 covers.
2 years ago, I replaced the drainage valve and the seals of the brewing unit, because the machine no longer wanted to dispense coffee. After that, it ran perfectly until recently. Regular descaling and cleaning are carried out.

For 5 days it has been continuously releasing less coffee. In the beginning only 120ml were distributed with 180ml selected, now it is even less.
A renewed exchange of the drainage valve and the seals of the brewing unit unfortunately did not lead to success. On the contrary. I feel like the coffee's gotten even thinner now. Immediately after the brewing process, half of the coffee is placed in the drip tray and the marc container. There is also a part in the brewing unit. If you take them out after making the coffee and turn them over, the coffee will run out. The flushing also no longer works as usual. A larger amount of coffee powder remains on the sieve of the brewing unit.
Always when the ground coffee beans are compacted, I imagine I hear a kind of hissing sound when water escapes under pressure.

Do you still have ideas or tips for me?

Many thanks in advance!

Same symptoms! Replaced drainage valve and brewing unit.

Because the water comes to the brewing unit but can't go forward to the cup the next component might be broken/clogged? What is the next component?

Also drainage, hot water etc. are working.

Cheers,
/Kari

I have the exact same problem - I have replaced the drainage valve but ALL of my coffee is ending up in the tray with nothing being dispensed into a cup.

Anybody able to give an idea of what the problem might be?

Solved it!

I tried to brew coffee through the ground coffee chute and it worked. So, I came to think that maybe the reason is the grinder. Maybe it is stuck and grinds too fine coffee and water can't come through?

That actually was the case. I eventually opend the grinder and cleaned it thorougly. It was full of very fine coffee powder. After that the machine has been working fine!

Just one note. The grinder is quite easy to open and assemble again, just take a picture of the wiring and the grinder that you get it assembled correctly again. Also make sure that you assemble the mechanism that drops the beans to the grinder in the middle of the bean container correctly. It is easy to assemble wrongly and you get "Error 14". The took a couple of trial and errors for me...
