Hello
,Had the same problem with the knob on my EQ-7, jumped wildly back and
forth.
Went to Konrad (or similar shop) and got some electronics cleaning & tuning spray. The knob can be pulled off with a little force, and then I sprayed the spray into the hole quite saturated. It's in the manual of the spray. Inside the "dirt" then runs into the drip tray, then the knob a few times turned wildly, again some spray, let dry and - voilà, the machine works since several months like new again.
Disassembly: Zero, Labor: 5 minutes, Cost: the spray, nothing else....
Maybe this will help one or the other victim of the knob problem....

Enthusiastic. Thanks for the tip, worked.
Thought it was related to the electronics and have been annoyed with it for months.

Came across your post through research & totally happy.
Our EQ 7 has had exactly the same problem with the wildly jumping knob for a long time. I was going to dispose of it after only 7 years. I used your tip and the part does what it should again. Ingenious. Hope it works so long.
Thanks for the great tip.

Hi, thanks for the tips. However, I can't get the selector switch off my EQ5 even with all my strength. Do I have to disassemble the machine? Looks so easy in the video, but it is probably not in real.

Also always had concerns to pull off the rotary switch on my EQ7+. Have with a cloth wrapped the knob and with a combination pliers carefully set from the top, with light leverage he then went down. Also put in some contact spray, twisted it back and forth hard and put it back on - everything does like it used to. Why did I wait so long with it ... ;-)

Thanks for this tip!

Have been irritated on this turn knob for years and now it had more or less stopped working. Have even start to familiar myself with buying a new machine. Now I was searching for a replacement display module and they seam to be sold out everywhere and finally ended up in this thread late last night. Before bed I ran out to the garage and fetched a can of oxide clean spray, took away the knob and sprayed a few times and this morning the knob worked flawless even without a spray of contact spray which I also was planning to use, but never used.

I just say WOW, @Kurt, you are my hero!!:D

Add some search words for other Swedes that are out there (siemens eq 7 plus, problem med vred, problem med display, fixa vred, laga vred) Ps. Funkar bra med tex Biltemas spray.

Hello
,Does that go with the Eq.8 also that I can pull off the selector switch ?
Greetings Christian

Yes it goes also with the EQ8 (series 300 )! rotary knob can be pulled off easily. Three strong sprays through the middle opening with "contact 60", press the knob lightly, turn it several times to the right and left, take the knob off again and spray it again with 3-4 sprays through the opening in the middle and also outside on the visible circuit board, press the knob firmly on it again and turn it again several times to the right and left and you are done. Since then, the knob encoder works properly again biggrin.gif

On our EQ7 L series, the rotary switch for selecting a coffee option no longer works properly. When turning to the desired program, it always jumps back and forth. One can set the desired program only with great difficulty. According to Siemens such an error is not known.
Are there similar problems here from the forum. What would be more important, how can this be solved inexpensively?
Thanks already for the answers.

Taken apart and contact spray, and runs again, like new

So I disassembled the EQ 8 and the selector switch from behind lightly (2-3 very short blows) sprayed with WD-40, selector switch moved a few times to the left and right. The EQ 8 in the brewing chamber and side parts thoroughly cleaned then reassembled.
Switched on and works perfectly again.

for people who still own an EQ5 like me (EQ5 Macchiato plus): same problem, the programs jump back and forth. But here: the knob can NOT be pulled off! If you look at the spare part in a store, you can see that the knob still has a widened plate at the bottom, which sits behind the facing. So you have to take off the left clear trim - only then can you pull off the knob. After that, spraying it in with contact spray unbelievably fixed the problem for us as well. Fiddling with the trim around the knobs is more difficult. Remove the side panel (at the water tank). It may be enough to get enough play on the front cover, but we had completely dismantled the entire cover (everything with the komtra instructions). The panel has a small hook at the top center, i.e. actually there is a plastic part pressed on 2 tiny pins, which are now broken off anyway. On the left side there are 3 protrusions of about 1mm and 3,5cm length, which serve as hooks on the left side. If you have the side off, you can easily loosen them. At the bottom, the facing is firmly hooked into 2 openings, i.e. you can't (!) lever them off, but have to pull the facing out upwards as soon as you are able to tilt it slightly forward at the top. On the right side were also minimal edge extensions, with which the facing then holds behind the silver facing on the right. In fact, you would have to loosen at the top, loosen at the left, pull to the left that the right side loosens, tilt forward at the top and then pull out at the top. Of course, this doesn't really work, especially because you can't pull to the left to release the right. So a bit of pulling and jiggling and if you're lucky, it comes off without too much trouble. Putting the veneer back on, on the other hand, went pretty well. Insert at the bottom and then press on all sides until it clicks, then it also went on the right side with a little pressure again under the right facing. The knobs themselves are nice to be clearly back in the right position to attach, they have asymmetrical recesses below.

Hello, although the entry is a bit later here is a solution that has helped me.
With me, all the coffee ran with a hiss in the drip tray. First gelgentlich and then permanently. With the side door open, I could then observe that the orange rubber seal in the brewing unit could not seal because it was so loose that it was pressed out the side and so accordingly all the coffee was pressed out. Maybe changing the seal will help someone else.

Yes the same problem I also have that is a potentiometer that is very difficult to get at least here in Germany.
