If the Krups EA81* gets stuck in the reset menu, put the waste bowl and water bowl back in, unplug it and then hold down the setting button with the gear, plug it back in and a menu will appear, then press the on/off button and a flashing power cord will appear on the screen, unplug it, wait 10 seconds and then start normally, it worked for me.

So mine now seems to have completely hung up....
- It constantly shows the symbol that the coffee grounds container is missing.
- Placing a container under the steam and coffee outlets flashes.
- The K with drip flashes.
- It flashes Press Start, but you can't press Start, just like you can't press ANYTHING else....

HELP?!?!?? sad.gif((

Did you find a solution. Mine is stuck too!

Tried to set up a new machine today. There is the same problem, all the red lights are on and nothing works except unplugging the machine.
Does anyone have a solution?
Otherwise the machine is back on!

Important addition:

After disconnecting from the mains and then restarting the machine, it is IMPERATIVE
to place a
12. large cup under both the coffee spout and the steam nozzle.
13. Fill the water tank
14. Press the "strong coffee" button
A program runs to fill the system.
Only then does it run again as usual.

That's a shitty answer

It would be helpful to know what contributed to the displeasure.
Yours sincerely,
the author

After years, I have called up the post I wrote back then.
I was pleased to be able to give some help to one or the other.
I am not registered in this forum, so I cannot be reached directly.
If you have any questions about Krups machines, please post them here. I will check back from time to time.
Just today I repaired 3 Krups machines. Just a hobby and neighborhood help.

Hello good morning,

I have followed everything as described in the reset. Nevertheless, all 4 lights are red. It has been descaled and the float also works. As soon as I switch it on there is a soft click and all 4 lights turn red then nothing happens. blink.gifbiggrin.gif:D

Hello,
thank you for your contribution. I also had the problem that the coffee was actually just a thin brew because it was simply ground too little. I then carried out the reset, and at first it seemed to have worked well. Since then, however, the machine has unfortunately been doing the following:
After pressing the right cup (strong coffee, 240ml are set) it makes a coffee. 120ml ends up in the cup, the rest runs out from under the machine. I think it comes from the grounds container, or from the "part above". After the coffee is "ready", it makes the noise again as if it wants to brew (only without grinding first). Then a few more drops (20ml??) come out of the coffee nozzles. Then it wants the grounds container emptied after every coffee. The grounds are just sludge and very wet. There is also coffee grounds residue in the drip tray.
I ran the reset again, no change. Is it now scrap? Maybe someone can help...

Mine seems to have jammed completely ....
- The symbol permanently indicates that the coffee grounds container is missing.

- There's a flashing Press Start inscription, but it's impossible to press Start, just as it's impossible to press ANYTHING else....

Hello,
I have the same problem as HDMJ.
Have you found an answer?
Thanks in advance
Have a nice day.

Hello Corinna
I think the symptom described is an indication of a non-functioning drainage valve.
This is actually easy to repair if you know how to open the machine.
Search the internet for "Krups EA drain valve".

I originally started the article for the EA models 81XX WITH or WITHOUT cleaning slide.
models with display are NOT included. My instructions only describe the machines with volume control using a rotary knob and 4 buttons plus an additional service button.
Every reader and repairer should pay attention to which type of coffee machine needs to be reset, otherwise incorrect actions on machines that are not affected can lead to irreversible conditions.
The sequence of individual steps from my original article is still used by me today for the relevant machines and leads to success.

KRUPS EA81* Reset
with or without cleaning slide. Pomace container and water container LED flashing.

Trying to change the grinder setting, grinder grinding time, grinding quantity, coffee powder quantity according to a procedure described in the forums usually makes the machine unusable. The grounds container and water container LEDs flash after restarting, no more button input possible, machine does not heat up.
In a forum, an unknown forum user has described a possible RESET for all those affected. I expressly emphasize that I am not the inventor of this procedure, the credit goes to an unknown person. I am merely transferring the procedure into a readable form and adding a few more steps.
I have tried it on a machine WITHOUT a cleaning slide. It works!

1. Disconnect the machine from the power supply (unplug)
2. Remove the water tank, grounds container and cleaning slide (if present)
3. Set the flow regulator to 20 ml
4. Press and hold the "strong coffee" button on the far right and plug in
5. All LEDs light up, water tank filled, grounds container, reset cleaning slide (if present)
6. Adjust the flow regulator until all LEDs have gone out (approximately middle position)
7. Place the container under the coffee spout and steam nozzle, now press the "weak coffee" button
8. Water is pumped through the coffee spout and steam nozzle, the brewing piston moves to the upper edge of the brewing chamber. The process is repeated twice. Then all red LEDs have gone out
9. Press the "weak coffee" button again
10. The machine lowers the brewing piston twice, the last time the brewing piston remains in its lowest position. When "all LEDs are flashing"
11. Unplug the machine and wait at least 5 seconds
12. Plug in the mains plug, the brewing piston returns to its original position.
Machine is working again.

I would like to thank the author of these instructions. It worked great!
I was about to send the machine back. Now it works again.

I am pleased if I have been able to help you. However, the credit does not go to me alone, but to an author unknown to me, whose procedure I have put into a readable text form and extended by 4 steps after I became a user of the instructions myself.

Too everyone with a EA81x WITH DISPLAY with a "missing waste container" bricked machine after trying to follow reset instructions read on:

The way to fix this is simple, and yet was impossible to find anywhere.

  • Unplug the machine.
  • Remove water tank and waste container.
  • Press the ⚙ button while plugging it back in the wall socket to enter the service menu.
  • Insert waste container back in.
  • Press start and the should be displayed d69 and the icon to unplug the machine flashing.
  • Unplug the machine again.
  • Insert the water tank and plug the machine back
  • ~

You should now be able to turn on the machine and use it normally.

    Hello,

I have an EA80 in the workshop, the grinding quantity is clearly too high, i.e. the grinder runs for too long. Does anyone have a table of the maintenance mode? There is a single digit display under the top front cover. Which numbers etc. have what meaning?
    Thanks in advance.
It is sad that Krups does not provide this table, so that many machines can probably no longer be repaired. Sending it to Krups is definitely too expensive!
