After experiencing what my wife called a possible power bump, our coffee machine lights flickered and the machine started to smoke. She pulled the plug and put an out of service sticky note on the machine.

So, after checking all the connections and looking for any obvious signs of a burnt connection or a burnt component, I found the 15A fuse was blown and after replacing, turned on and the magnet solenoid smoked popping the new fuse.

The solenoid was removed, inspected, cleaned and re-installed only to blow the next fuse.
Has anyone else seen this?

Which solenoid? Do you mean the solenoid for the drain valve?
If so, they can sometimes break and then the fuse or, depending on the FI, can blow out.
Must then be replaced.
