no more coffee and no more rinsing

Hello everyone,

I have a problem with my Melitta Caffeo Bistro. Neither can I get coffee out the front, nor does it flush on and off. The coffee grounds are wet and something (coffee?) is also running into the drip tray.

To illustrate the whole thing, I have uploaded a video on Youtube:

What could that be and should the machine be repaired, or can you possibly do it yourself?

Thanks in advance and many greetings
Frank

Hello,

Judging by the video, the drainage valve is defective, and or the brewing unit needs new gaskets. Spare parts, including gaskets, are available from Komtra or juraprofi.de. There you can also download repair instructions. With a little craftsmanship you can repair it yourself.

Thank you very much for your answer. I had disassembled everything yesterday, after a great tutorial here in the forum. Cleaned it all up and put it back together again. Unfortunately with the same result.

Woran can I tell if e.g. the brewing unit or the drainage valve is broken?

If the drainage valve does not seal, then the water intended for the brewing unit runs the wrong way into the drip tray. The valve is there to let the residual water through during each brewing process (approx. one shot glass full) after the coffee is already in the cup at the front. There's two lip seals in there. When they are worn out, the water goes through there into the drip tray during brooding.
In addition, the large seal of the bruising flask may be worn, as may a lip seal. During pressing, the brewing cylinder moves up and the rigid upper brewing flask presses the moist coffee powder together. The broth water pushes through the fine broth sieve under high pressure. If the large lip seal is worn out, the broth water also runs past the seal into the drip tray.
Then a new set of gaskets is necessary, the large lip gasket, the gasket for the inlet nozzle, and 2 lip gaskets for the drainage valve.
In addition, the stainless steel brewing sieve may be blocked so that the brewing water can no longer get through. Can also be cleaned with a toothbrush.

Super! Many thanks for the detailed explanation! I will unscrew the machine again as soon as I find the time. I will then report on my success or failure here.

Many thanks again and many greetings
Frank

Did you ever fix this?
