Hello,

my DeLonghi ESAM 4400 slowly gets on my nerves: just repaired the heating block, overhauled the brewing unit, cleaned everything, suddenly the display failed (at night, in standby mode). Symptoms: The
display shows partially unreadable "jags/characters", but the machine runs when
operated
"blind"
- see example photo.

The flat cable from the power board to the display board

is ok (tested with the multimeter). What could be the reason
:1. The display board? (e.g. the
small capacitor / "battery")2. The display itself?
3. The power board? (but then the
machine
wouldn
't work?
)If it was the power board (electronics), then I would have an unused ESAM 3400 board (still sealed in a bag). Looks optically identical to "mine", but has another
product number:currently in

machine 5232119600 the

new,

unused: 5213210021 ("For ESAM 3400R")You

are probably

not interchangeable?

I would be grateful for hints!

I'm not an expert on this particular type now, but I would try a factory reset if there is one for this machine.

Hello,

so I don't know the code 5213210021. Please check this one, you must have read/typed yourself.
Regardless, I don't think it's your power electronics
, it's the display itself.

Your "sample photo" is not retrievable or visible.

..

Why leave the machine in standby mode overnight

????

Ever heard of saving energy?

@Martin (hobby technician)Werks Reset has brought nothing that would actually be expected. But thank you for pointing that out. @Steinhaeger666

The mains plug remains in the socket, smile.gif the machine is off and the display shows the clock. So the machine can start automatically in the morning just before I get up - the mode I meant (is it not standby?)Yes, I've heard about saving energy before, but I don't quite think people pull ALL the plugs before they go to sleep. biggrin.gif
I would be grateful for further information!

Yeah, okay, that standby thing was a mistake on my part.
I don't think people pull the plug at night either. But there's still the circuit breaker on the back. If you don't have it, your machine will
be a
bit older
...

The power electronics are not compatible with your machine, but that won't

be it.

What you can see so roughly on your photo-it will be the display, either new display or control board

.

Yes, I think so too - the circuit board or display. Unfortunately! at ebay I currently only find complete front panels with the circuit board for about 50€. It would be too much for me, while the machine can still be operated "blind".

I don't have a mains switch on the rear panel, the mains plug is plugged into an intermediate adapter with switch. I do not turn it off for the night because then automatic power on (at 6 o'clock in the morning) would not work. biggrin.gif

I still exchange today, on "suspicion" the small buffer capacitor on the display board (shows 4V) - whether that brings what?
I'll be in touch.

Didn't help, I'm afraid.
Maybe I try to change the display, but it might take some time until the part comes from China (aliexpress).
