EQ9 S300 - Hot water without milk adapter ?

Hello,

why can you run with the EQ9 only hot water when you remove the adapter for milk cartons from the machine ?
Should the adapter but remain stuck in it, do not understand the sense.
If I pull the adapter briefly out the water starts to run today and I put the adapter while the water runs through again.

What do I not understand there ?

I'm sure the rubber tip can't take the temperature, hardens.

The rubber tip can also be put in the dishwasher. A real reason (better yet a Furmeareupdate) would also interest me.
