Hello everyone
, I bought a Delonghi Magnifikat a few days ago, it is used. Then, when I tried it for the first time,
I
had the following problem:
I wanted to fine-tune the grind (it was set to seven) to play a little with the coffee aroma and the different possibilities of the machine. One time the machine brewed coffee after a change from 2 degrees less to 5, the second time only drops came out. The third time an error message was flashing.
According to the operating instructions, this means that the grinding degree is set too fine. Well, so I experimented further, but without a different result. It sounds as if the pump wanted to pump, but would not have enough power. It also doesn't run harmoniously in terms of sound, but somehow wobbles.I did a cleaning. Also of the upper morning head. Early group cleaned, coffee shaft cleaned, and now?
I would be very happy as a beginner, if I got a piece of advice!
Thank you very much, Daniela

Hello,

I find it very strange that this message comes at grinding grade 5.
What happens when you have cleaned everything again and switch on the machine or rinse it? Does water come out of the outlet or does the message "ground too fine?
How coarse or finely ground is the coffee powder?
Does it look similar to the powdered coffee you bought or is it finer ground?

Good morning,
thank you for your answer. The coffee powder at grind seven probably looks about the same as purchased coffee powder. At five it's a little finer, I'd say - but only from memory (I haven't had ground coffee for a long time)...
While the error message appears, I can't rinse - nothing happens.
I can't release the pressure with hot water either. Something works, but there is a little bit of steam and then it trickles and it rattles loudly like a Trabbi (2-stroke), so that nothing breaks.
What I have to do is set the grind to 7 and start two coffee runs. Then the error message flashes again and nothing comes out. At the 3rd time everything works again, also rinsing and hot water.
By the way, the error message is the following combination:
"Empty coffee grounds" flashes
"Top up water" is permanently lit
"Warning triangle/exclamation mark" flashes I

hope I have described it well. Thank you very much for your effort! Daniela

Daniela

P.s. If the attempt to flush was unsuccessful, no error message was displayed...smile.gif

Hm, so either the upper brewing head and the brewing group is clogged and should be disassembled and cleaned or the seller has adjusted something at the grinder...
I would complain about that. Even if you bought it second-hand, the seller has certain obligations.
If this is not possible, disassemble and clean the upper brewing head and brewing group.
But for this you need some craftsmanship.

Thanks for your advice, hotshot.
I already requested a return, but of course the ad said no returns. And that salesgirl was a real dumb-ass, too. Sometimes you just have a lucky charm ;-) So,
on the subject of cleaning and disassembling: I'll have a look around and see what instructions you might find on the net. Do you think it makes more sense to take the machine to a specialist? I enjoy doing handicrafts and I am very talented in fine motor skills, but I have little idea of the complexity of the project?and would you explain to me what brings you to your diagnosis? So that I can understand and learn?
Thank you very much, Daniela

Good morning everyone
, I have now successfully (uff) disassembled and cleaned the brewing flask and the brewing group and reassembled everything. Both were not badly dirty by the way. With the brewing group only the spring at the lever and in the brewing piston almost nothing. Only the thick hose at the brewing piston was rather clogged. I then reassembled everything and was already expecting that it probably didn't fix the problem unsure.gif.
And while trying it out: see, I still have the same problem.

Does anybody have another idea? I somehow have the feeling that the power is not enough with fine grind. Maybe motor or pump?
You can really hear how something is struggling in there....You can't put in any noise here.
And my understanding is that the pump needs more power with a fine grind?

Many greetings,

Daniela

Hello,

it's always hard to tell from a distance what the problem is.
You can only use your own experience to narrow down the problem.
Still, sometimes you can be wrong...
Maybe the pump is getting old.
You can only be sure if you install a new one.
I still think that the grinding degree has been changed.
This means that the grinder grinds finer than it was intended for setting 5.
But, like I said, it's hard to tell from a distance...

In your case I would actually try it with a new pump first.
It's not that expensive and it's not difficult to exchange.

Have you completely disassembled and cleaned the brewhead and brewing unit?
What did it look like under the sieve of the brewing unit, were all the holes free (could you see through when you held it against the light)?

Hello, Steinhaeger,

Yeah, I took it all apart and the screen was already dirty. The only thing that was actually showing signs of debris I cleaned it up. Now I'm just following up on a tip from another post: Making coffee with descaling solution instead of water. All in all, things actually seem to be getting better now. At grind 3 it goes very slowly, but it works. And that's normal, I guess? I haven't dared to go to one...
How could I find out if something has been changed in the grinding degree? A normal housewife and mother sold me the machine used - wouldn't trust her to do something like that right now, but you never know ph34r.gif

I read somewhere else that the pump is ok when hot water comes out of the hot water - Schnuppel. Is that how you see it? Otherwise I would actually try a new pump.

And then there's the second problem I have, that water forms under the machine. That somehow runs past this red emergency - catch - condensation - bowl.

Do you have a hint for this?

Many, many thanks for your answers and many greetings,
Daniela

Hello, Daniela,

well, I guess your grinder seems okay after all.
I don't think a "housewife and mother" did anything to change that.
That's more like tinkering.

The decalcification of the upper brewhead with your described method is good in any case, and it seems to have become better already.

Then you should clean the sieve of the brewing group, and preferably the rest of the brewing piston as well, with a coffee cleaner. Under the sieve is the crema valve, which
also
gets
clogged
after a lot of
coffee.

One more tip on the grind:
Always change it by one degree and then check several covers before adjusting it further
.
By jumping too much, you can also mess things up.
It is also not absolutely necessary to go to grind degree 1.
The setting of the grinder also depends on the beans, personal taste and the grinder itself.
The ejected coffee pad should be properly pressed and not soaking wet.

With your second problem, you will probably have to open the machine and go on a search for traces.
To do this, unscrew the back panel. Then you can pull the side panel back and remove it.
Probably something will have clogged up at the outlet to the condensation water tank, I had to have a look.
