Siemens eq6 s700 continuo"clean grind unit" error

I have a Siemens eq6 s700 and had it for a while with no issues.

Out of the blue I started getting a "clean grind unit" error every time I try to make anything and it seems that the grind unit attempts to tamp several times before giving up and displaying the error.

I disassembled the machine and found no obvious electrical or mechanical defects so I used a silicon lubricant on all the motors within the machine itself. This seems to randomly get me one cup here or there, but no continuous results.

Has anyone else experienced a similar error with the EQ lineup and if so have any idea how to address it? Thanks!
