Krups EA826a drip tray filling very quickly

I am new to this forum and wonder if anyone can help me?
I have a KRUPS EA 826a bean to cup machine, several years old now. A problem has started with the drip tray filling up very quickly. After just one cup of coffee made, there is a quarter cup of water added to the drip tray. I am sure this is not normal. If I am not vigilant in emptying the drip tray every few cups, then it overflows all over my kitchen worktop and down onto the floor. Not good!

Any ideas if this is fixable?

On a separate note, the machine has always prompted me when to change the water filter and when to do a cleaning cycle, but it has never prompted me to do any descaling. Looking in the program it says I have done 2200 water cycles (coffees made), no steam cycles (as I don't us the steamer. It says there are 295 cycles to the next clean, and 24000 cycles until the first descale! That can't be right can it? There is no option I can see to just do a manual descaling exercise, and as it won't prompt me to do one I can't get one done. This seems strange.
