Gaggia Platinium Swing Up - Water Sensor ?

Hello together,

I bought a Platinium Swing Up and I am constantly annoyed that the machine does not announce in time if water is missing. She brews a cup of coffee and when the water runs out, the coffee simply doesn't get full - just half a cup - but then all the stronger :-)

Is this phenomenon known or does someone know what to do about it ? It's always annoying to see if there's enough water inside before you let a coffee out..

The water level is detected via a reed contact. There's a float in the tank. If this drops to a defined level, the contact is triggered, the message "water empty" is output (via display or lamps, depending on the machine).
Now we have the following case: The red contact is not yet triggered, a cup of coffee is being made. Now the reed contact triggers after the first ml of coffee, the process is aborted because the pump must not run dry.

So it is rather a technical "weak point", only your own control helps, or every morning simply fill the tank with fresh water.

Hello Gregor,

thanks for the info. But with other machines it works great and there's usually still a little water in the tank - so it's just enough for the coffee.

I'm surprised that Gaggia is like that. Neither in Saeco nor in Jura I had the problem so far.

May be you can do a little "tuning" ?

Hello together,

after I have checked the machine now again exactly I noticed that in the water tank no sensor is at all ... I know it from the Saeco, where a small magnet floats inside. But with the Gaggia there is nothing inside ... ??

Bin now a bit confused, since I have no idea how to change or improve this, that he rather screams when there is no water left.

White since someone happens to have something more precise about it ?
