Hello dear forum community,
since the end of last week I am the proud owner of a Melitta Caffeo CI.

First of all I would like to say that I am convinced by the functionality and design of the machine. Only in white I wouldn't buy you anymore and can already advise against buying a white fully automatic machine!

Now the real problem is:

When using the fresh milk container the machine seems to get too little milk in general. For example, when preparing a latte macchiato, the machine sprays the entire office with hot air and milk. The straightening of the rigid milk collector in the lid of the milk container was also unsuccessful. At first I thought that the supply line was too long for the milk supply.

Short contact with the Melitta service: another hose (larger inner diameter) the next day in the mailbox.

Pleasantly, this didn't succeed either. After an "intensive cleaning" I did two more tests with a fuller glass and the different tubes:

Test 1: Test with small tube diameter and direct milk collection.

Test 2: Test with new tube and larger tube diameter. Also direct milk collection.

>Even after "Intensive Cleaning" the machine still "spotts" during both tests. Milk is obtained in both cases - but only within a radius of 60 cm in the kitchen. Melitta thus makes coffee less of a pleasure to drink, but only provides for increased cleaning effort.

> The renewed contact with the Melitta service brought a new milk unit one day later. At least when the milk container was full there was an improvement. But as soon as the container is only half full - the same problem with the "mocking" of the machine again.

First the change of the position of the milk container brought a success:

When I put the milk container on a 10cm high stack of beer coasters, the problem is "fixed". But I don't think that this is in the "sense of the inventor".

Has anyone ever had this problem and happens to know what it can be - and above all: how to turn it off?

All in all, you can say that the Melitta service reacts very quickly and also tries to find quick solutions. Despite everything I would buy the machine again and can also recommend it.

Many greetings

...with me the reason for the milk spitting lay in the rubber element sitting behind the frontal flap. More precisely, if you open the chrome front flap, you can pull the element behind it downwards and release it. Inside is the aforementioned rubber part, which had two hairline cracks when I unpacked the machine and which logically caused not only milk but also air to be sucked in. You make it sound like something else. I wish you the best of luck;

Exactly that was the case with the new milk unit - it's a bit better, but only if the milk container is full to the brim (or, as I said, 10 cm higher!).

Thank you anyway for the info!

I just received another letter from Melitta:
a new milk container and a return note.

I will replace everything today to drive another test.

I will send back either the old milk container or the entire fully automatic machine!

Many greetings

Hello!
"Spitting" was fortunately no problem for me - maybe because I always put the milk in a second coffee pot next to the machines and let the milk be sucked in from there. The side effect of this is that the milk in the 2nd cup of coffee is no longer quite cold in the fridge, then the foam gets warmer, which I see as the bigger problem.
With latte the result is hotter, because hot milk and not only foam is produced. Nevertheless, I am not so satisfied with the temperatures of the coffee, I would like it to be hotter. Otherwise it works well with the machine and us, hopefully still for a long time... rolleyes.gif

UPDATE:

As it unfortunately didn't work with the new milk container, I took advantage of Melitta's all-round perfect service and sent the machine to the service centre yesterday with the return receipt.

From this Melitta service, many other companies could cut off a fat slice of their hat and continue like this!

Many greetings
Rouven

it's a pity, then we don't know how it went on with "rms" after the exchange sad.gif So I would be really interested, because otherwise you hear a lot of good things about the machine and it would be my favourite at the moment.

Since I don't have these probs, I experimented a little bit, especially as my "previous" ones (Primadonna, Saeco Prof.) often spat with 3/4 empty milk can. If I use the original Melitta milk container (well closed) it runs perfectly down to the last cm of milk. If I take an open glass (like in the movie, with a hose hanging down) it doesn't always work clean, especially if the hose doesn't reach all the way down. I still have an external milk cooler with a capped, fairly tall "jar" in it and a angled steel pipe that reaches down to the bottom and comes out angled up. So it works always perfect. It is noticeable that in any case where it works cleanly a hose does not just hang almost straight down but is at least at one point above the height of the milk outlet on the machine head. Physically, I think this makes sense (getting liquid out of containers by sucking it in with a hose works similarly). In this respect, lifting the milk container, especially when the coffee outlet is pushed up, doesn't seem so wrong to me.

Hello,
I also have the problem with my Melitta with the "spitting" me from a vacancy of about 50%
If I set the milk container higher then it works as it should be.
But that can't really be the solution.
I would also like to know what came out of the thread maker.
Melitte told me only that the machine had to be sent in and that takes about 14 days ....... but I would like to avoid that

My family wanted to give me a Melitta CI for my 60th birthday. But when I read the described problems I ask myself if I should wish for another coffee machine.
Who can advise me which machine is really recommendable?
Are there actually users who can use their machine without any problems?

Hello together,

I've only been using this machine for a week, but so far I can't find any really negative points.

The CI makes acceptable coffee with great crema and good taste even with the factory settings and 08/15 beans.
On Friday my Fausto tasting package arrived - it will take me a while to get through all the varieties, the first two were very promising.

I can't understand the problem with the milk foam preparation. There "spits" nothing around. Of course, a few clouds of steam develop until the foam comes - but it's nothing dramatic.
What I've also noticed, if the vessel with the milk is a little higher, the foam works (even) better. But even without "raising" the CI really makes great milk foam.
I personally cannot understand the already criticized low temperature of the milk products either - steaming milk comes out of my machine.

plus points:
- compact dimensions
- quiet
- various adjustment options
- also with "cheap beans" good coffee with great crema
- cappu, latte and other coffees in very good quality with "OneTouch"

- Some criticisms are:
- The coffee grounds container is a bit small
- The drip pan fills up quickly

- But I could imagine that this is due to the design of the device, since it really has no gigantic dimensions.

All in all, if you can say it at all after one week, this is a really great fully automatic machine at a reasonable price.

Time will show how reliable the device really is.
However, I don't really have much doubts about it. The device comes, like many other high-quality VA, from the house Eugster.

From me there is's a clear recommendation here - for the money I did not find a VA with more functions.

Many greetings
Gerhard

smile.gif I had the milk foam problem too, but not from the beginning! I thought about what I changed and it was very simple: the machine comes with a short and a long hose! The short hose should be for the milk container and I used the long hose at the beginning! Solution: take the long hose for the milk container and everything runs without spraying!Melitta Caffeo CI

Hello,

I have the milk foam problem since yesterday, or generally a milk problem.
This morning he hasn't sucked anything anymore. Yesterday the milk flowed after a hose change,
the foam hardly but quite irregular. Today came as said nothing more...
Having the VA now scarcely 2 months, before there were no problems.
Will probably turn to the service.
