Hello!
>I know there are a lot of posts on this topic, but I still don't know what's inside the descaler. I already wrote delonghi, but here I also got the following answer:
"Our parent company De´Longhi s.p.A. gives in the operating instructions of the latest model generations the clear indication that decalcification products on
sulfamine or vinegar base should no longer be used.
>Our colleagues have probably found that the long-term use of such products could cause damage to the seals used.
Even so we can advise against using citric acid-based descaling agents, since citric acid dissolves the lime but does not dissolve it completely.
This can lead to blockages caused by limescale residue, which in turn can lead to restrictions in the functionality of the device.
For these reasons we recommend the use of the decalcifier SER
1014/3018 (0.5 l for 4 decalcifications) from De´Longhi, which you should find in well-stocked fully automatic dealers."
>When I asked what is now contained in the descaler, I got this answer:
"Since our parent company developed the descaler SER 3018 itself and also recommends it, we do not assume that the product will harm our fully automatic machines.
The composition of this descaler is adapted to the materials used in the machines."
On the delonghi homepage, however, under the Universal descaler it says: "Please follow carefully the instructions for descaling given in the operating instructions of your coffee machine. If the use of citric acid in powder form is stated, the use of 125 ml De´Longhi Descaler corresponds to 30 g of powdered citric acid"
Is this now to say that there is also citric acid in there???
It would be nice if someone could tell me which descaler I could use besides the original!
