Nivona CafeRomatica 850

Good evening together,

I would like to share my knowledge about my machine with you and at the same time ask you what you would like to change:

Four years ago we bought our fully automatic machine after a long comparison with other machines and were very satisfied with it most of the time.
My wife especially likes the preparation of the Latte Macchiato, because the milk foam is a real blast. Very firm, creamy - simply wonderful, we have hardly experienced this with other machines.
The handling is simple and absolutely intuitive, the display text messages are perfect to understand and the thing can do everything for our needs.

We clean the machine several times a week with the removable brewing unit, from time to time I even remove a cover with a 10 torx to get to a few coffee powder crumbs behind it, so that no mold can form.

Now about my problem:
After these four years a rather unpleasant smell developed between the use in the height-adjustable coffee spout, which is why I also went to my specialist dealer, who recommended me a thorough decalcification. After a few days I came back and he realized that I really had a bigger problem.

After one week I got the device back, with the following result:
A coffee outlet unit was probably the reason for the pollution, because from the dismantled part the bad stench already came through the closed plastic bag! blink.gif

Now the machine smells good again, all hoses have been thoroughly flushed, cleaned (according to the dealer the inside is nanocoated, so there is nothing sticking to ?!? ), the dirty unit is replaced with a new one. He also said that he had never had it like this before and he believes that the coffee used was to blame.

Now my question:
In the appendix you will find the dirty unit I opened out of curiosity. What do you think I could do to avoid something like this in the future?
I use the FairTrade coffee from Aldi, which I like and which according to the package information is "ideal for fully automatic machines". Could it be that the species is really the reason for this? Or the grinding degree, which is adjusted to fine because I prefer to drink it stronger?

Or you can't even do anything about it in the end, except that you bring the device to the dealer every three to four years and disassemble it for comparatively inexpensive 80€ and have the dirty unit replaced?

Other than that I can only say good things about the dealer Radio Radtke in Oberhausen, very friendly, free rental device (However, a Jura Impressa e10, which I would never buy after this involuntary test, but nevertheless!) and for the work even inexpensive.

I am very grateful about your opinion,
Many greetings,

Martin

Creepy...
You ask yourself why all increased value always attach to a removable brewing unit... I've seen bad things before, but I've been spared something like that so far.

So in your case I'd try other cleaning tablets. Apparently, your old ones don't dissolve the coffee residue.
Or you remove the part every few months and put it in cleaner overnight. That would calm me down then ^^

Hi all
,I have exactly the same problem with my Nivona type 691 / NICR 831.
At the coffee it is not, with my machine was already 3x the outlet replaced, the first time after about 4 years, then after 2 years and the 3 times after not even 8 months.
Now they say maybe the fault lies before the outlet in the machine, brewing unit, hoses, seals everything was renewed.
The question that arises to me, why is the outlet so constructed, where is the sense.
Why is an unnecessary dead space created here that cannot be cleaned, even with other tablets.
Now the next problem, I have two machines of the same type, same age.
On the 2 machine everything is original as delivered, no problems no musty.
Where is the error?
