Check water tank

Error message EQ5

My fully automatic coffee maker EQ 5 macchiato plus displays the error message "Check water tank" after program start and aborts the program. The ground coffee powder is dry. Descaling, cleaning and removing the water filter does not change the problem. Here this error has already been described several times, but unfortunately always without the final solution. How do I get my machine running again?

Hello, good evening,

I had the same problem with our EQ 5. I opened the device. Then pulled out the flow meter and put it into a 60 degree hot water with a strong shot of good descaler for about half an hour submerged. One has seen how the lime bubbles away in fine bubbles. So it was the so-called flow meter, which measures the amount of water. If this no longer works well, then the electronics says " check water tank" because the electronics then assume there is no water inside even though the tank is full. So far, the machine is making good coffee again. Over time, you'll probably need a new flow meter.
The EQ 5 is difficult to open, because it is clipped to the floor all around. You need 2 normal screwdrivers, with which you have to lever it up carefully, because it has snaps instead of screws. But there are good instructions on how to open the different machines. Download for free.
Greetings HWS

Hello, as already very often written.
Hard water often needs a decalcification.
A decalcifier based on amidosulfone should help quickly and also in the program adjust your water hardness, so you avoid all these evils.
Possibly also catch the water and let the decalcification run through twice and decalcify overnight into a bucket your water containers, they look like new afterwards.
And other lime residues can be removed with this rest wonderfully.
MfG Chris

Hello together,

"testing the water tank" has been torturing me for several months now. Due to some opinions I renewed the flowmeter this week (seems to be a new "version" too), with the anticipation that the problem is solved.
Result: The message check with the water tank now comes more often, a few weeks ago mostly only with a small espresso. Now also for large espresso. And best of all: the coffee pomace is muddy without without. Was rarely the case before flowmeter replacement. Are there any experience values on your part?

Hello together,
the error "Check water tank" is definitely only triggered by the flowmeter
.either the Hall sensor inside is defective and delivers
no more pulses to the control or the pulse wheel does not rotate or rotates too slowly because the flow
is blocked or inhibited for some reason.
- If no error occurs during normal water supply, the flowmeter can be ruled out as a source of error
.
>Possible causes are :
- Weak-age pump, under load too little or no quantity of water
- Pressure regulator on the pump defective.
- Electronic ceramic valve (EQ.5) Plus, EQ.7 all) calcified, clogged, stiff
- Directional valve (EQ.5)) calcified, clogged.
- Cream valve in brew group head does not open or opens too heavily (disassemble, clean)
- Brew group inlet (contra-angle handpiece) narrowed inside or completely clogged (already had).
unscrew, check, if necessary insert into descaler
- Connection hose between outlet manifold and brew group coupling clogged or kinked.
Take BG out, put a suitable hose or straw into the coupling, blow it in and
hold it under the outlet manifold.

I can't think of any more at this time of day.
Maybe there's one or two hits in there

I had also had to check the problem with the water tank, of course right before the holidays.

Since I did not dare to open the machine, I put vinegar in the opening where the water is sucked in from the tank and let it work for a longer time.

After a few hours I tried to clean it, but there were constant reports that there was too little descaler.

Thereupon I moved the cross at the bottom of the opening with a toothpick, so that it was freely movable and filled in vinegar again, this time let it work over night and lo and behold, the next morning the Calc'n'Clean program ran through and the machine works perfectly since then again

How much vinegar did you put in the opening? I have the same problem with the water tank, last time it was the brew group because of the sealing ring. After that it was running again. Now it has the error message but also when pulling the hot water. Check water tank comes then. There is a little bit of water in the bowl below, but nothing comes out of the spout...

Thank you in advance for an answer

Hello all,

our Bosch TES80359DE brings since today the error message "Check water tank" in the display and namely at every attempt to get coffee, or even hot water from the machine. The coffee powder comes out dry at the bottom and ends up in the grounds container. The error came very suddenly and unexpectedly, I just made myself a cup, my wife right after me got nothing. Disassembled the machine, removed the flowmeter (932-9521-B90), decalcified, the wheel inside it turns, I checked with compressed air. Reassembled everything - nothing there, the error message is back. This probably means that the sensor in the flowmeter is broken, right? It can't be the pump, because the cleaning programs (descale, rinse milk nozzle) are working, so the water is already flowing through, presumably the sensor is simply not queried in these programs?

Greeting

Anyway, no one has answered, then I just answer myself, maybe it helps someone:

The flowmeter can be wonderfully disassembled and cleaned, or decalcified, the lid is attached to the housing by bayonet catch and can be easily unscrewed and opened.
