Hello,
I think this forum is very good and could get a lot of useful information before ordering our Prima Donna.now we are waiting eagerly for the delivery of the KVA,sigh sad.gif
I have already informed myself about coffee sorts and descaler.
I contacted the service center Elektro Franck in Berlin, where I was told that they recommend the original DELonghi Descaler because many manufacturers (Krups, etc) no longer use the Durgol Descaler, because it is more aggressive and in the long run attacks the machine parts.
Then I asked DeLonghi himself and got this confirmed, even if they still put a sample of Durgol descaler to the new machines.
Maybe I can give others a hint as well!
Will continue to tell you how our prima Donna "hits" smile.gif

The "Original" DeLonghi descaler is Durgol and nothing else. Can be easily compared using the ingredients. "Durgol Express" is a little more aggressive, but that's not what we were talking about here.

My ESAM 4500 bought a week ago was a decalcifier of the ital. NOKALK (www.nokalk.com), printed on the package "Natural decalcifier - recommended by DeLonghi".
It contains 30 - 50% lactic acid and is completely biodegradable according to manufacturer's instructions, 1 dose of 100 ml must be mixed with 1 liter of water.

A question about this: I have always used citric acid for descaling my fully automatic machines and screen support devices with good success so far, someone has already had (long-term) experience with this at DeLonghi's?

On the ESAM models, citric acid can safely be used, as the water pipes in the thermoblock are made of stainless steel. In the older EAM models, however, you should avoid ZS, as it destroys the full aluminum thermoblock faster.

Since 2001 I have manually decalcified a SAECO-VIENNA clone (with aluminium thermoblock) with citric acid (3 EL to one litre of water) in a half-year cycle (the VIENNA does not have an aut. descaling program) and today it is still the first instantaneous water heater in the machine.
I explain the service life of the instantaneous water heater as follows: During descaling there was always a residue of scale on the walls and so the metal was (hardly) attacked.
The VA's with automatic descaling program are certainly programmed in such a way that descaling must be carried out as early as possible. Thus the aluminium wall is attacked after dissolution of the boiler scale, which eventually leads to a leak.

Yes, if a residual lime layer remains, the aluminium is spared. Do the Saecos decalcify hot or cold? However, a lime layer in the boiler/thermal block can also have a negative effect on the beverage temperature.

Decalcifying the Saecos actually hot or cold?

Both is correct!
Decalcifying the VA's with automatic decalcifying program hot.
With VA's without automatic program you can descale (almost) cold, which is in any case more gentle.
This is done by switching on the machine with the mains switch only until a part of the descaling liquid has leaked out of the hot water pipe. Then let the descaler soak in for approx. 10 minutes. With 1 litre of decalcifying liquid, this is done in 5 runs, i.e. approx. 0.2 litres each. The boiler only gets lukewarm.
It is important to always leave the hot water valve open so that no pressure can build up in the boiler as a result of the chemical reactions!

Hello,

Already I have used Durgol on my machine (ESAM 3400S).
As I don't want to break it I would like to ask the question again:
3 EL. Citric acid on 1L water in the automatic descaling program is ok?

Where to get nokalk I do not know.

Hello,

since the ESAM series has stainless steel instantaneous water heaters, Durgol cannot cause any damage wink.gif ...
A source of supply for "Nokalk" I also do not know, as written above, it was attached to my VA.

I have not yet had to decalcify my machine, the 3 tbsp citric acid to 1 liter of water were for manual decalcifying at SAECO'S ok, I must first of all timing and temperature of aut. Look at the program to be able to transfer it to the DeLonghi.

One liter of water contains 60 grams of citric acid granulate, with the solution you can safely decalcify your machine.
