Hello,

I have been screwing on coffee machines for some time now. When a colleague at work said he had an error in his Jura J9 of 8, I said no problem Brew group running difficult.
Brew group disassembled, gaskets replaced, greased, everything reassembled...and still error 8
As I couldn't believe that I made a mistake in assembly, it occurred to me that I still have a revised brew group at home.
Then I installed it and still have an error 8 The brew group stays in the upper end position.
I have a video of it

>Had the encoder of my J9 just been installed, same error
EncoderCable I also measured on continuity

Do you still have tips for me?

but in general the brewing group drives? maybe the sprockets are missing for the drive of the brewing group -> I mean the plastic number wheel with which the brewing group is driven

has found the following to it - but you certainly already wink.gif

> fault 8 (most frequent of all Jura error messages)

> plain text: problems with brewing group positioning.

causes / troubleshooting:

>slug brewing unit due to worn, swollen or torn O-rings.
- replace O-rings or complete brewing group.

encoder defective. (Counting error at the head of the brewing group or at the gear motor drive pinion) An incorrect brewing group position is transmitted to the electronics. - Check encoder cable, replace encoder if necessary

Brew group motor does not move (machine only clacks), transformer defective. - Replace transformer.

Motor or motor bracket defective. (One rattling or very quiet hum) - Replace brewing group motor.

Awfully loud rattling during brewing group routine (up and down of brewing group after switching on): After replacing the O-rings or the complete brewing group screws were forgotten. The drive unit rattles over the drive pinion.

With the video you can't see in which direction it goes first when the mains plug was disconnected. Is an unfortunate camera position at the beginning...
You must always move up first. If it goes down first, the motor has the wrong polarity. Then simply turn the plug over or exchange the two plugs on the motor. You can test it by pulling out the mains plug when the BG is approximately in the middle. Then you can see the next power plug in and switch on where she wants to go first...

If she has done this correctly and drives correctly first up the encoder could be defective...

If you have already replaced it only encoder cable or the logic as a cause of error remains...

>Of course everything can NOT be as you can see very easily in the video. So this is unnecessary to deal with...

Tip on the handles on the black body of the group. Get out again and bend the latches. Lift with a small screwdriver and warm with a lighter.

Motor, encoder, and pinion are definitely fine, the way they drive.

There are good videos at youtube.com on how to fix error 8. If I were you, I would watch one of the videos at my leisure. It is really easy to make mistakes when assembling the whole thing. And if only something small is not right, most of the time's not working.

Hello
,had the same problem...
Motor replaced, brewing unit replaced, encoder replaced....
Same problem Error8:huh:
With me, the plug/PIN to the encoder was rusted off.
Repaired, machine works 1A again

Hello all,

I had after the revision of the brewing unit exactly the same behavior as in the video. Have then found this thread and then searched in the wrong direction. Therefore, here is my tip: The decisive hint in this error came from "HWS". This has nothing to do with the encoder etc.. This can be easily checked. Simply disconnect the cable and switch on the machine. Then the device behaves differently than shown in the video. So it is not the encoder or the cabling. The cause is an incorrectly assembled brewing unit. In particular, check the position of the lower piston. In my case, it was not installed deep enough.

Replace plug on encoder is due to defective contact spring

Solved Error 8 on Jura Ena 5:
Wiring Harness Plug to Encoder had a corroded socket (spring finger inside no longer contacting Encoder Pin).
I soldered wires directly to Encoder Pins and covered each with Heat Shrink.
There's a puff of steam each time the machine is set to 'Steam' for frothing milk, and I think the pressure relief valve out of which it comes is directly below the Encoder smile.gif
