Hello,

Machine is about 8 years old and has had problems with milk frothing lately.
Then I changed the DeLonghi 5513227411 coupling milk frother and then it went back for some time. It's not working anymore. But I also noticed that the coffee doesn't really get hot out of the machine. The upper heating circuit of the thermoblock is defective. However, this part costs at least 70 euros. Will the milk foaming work again after replacing the thermoblock or has nothing to do with it?

How do you think about it, you can replace the thermoblock or is the probability very high that other components will fail soon and you will have to invest a lot of money for spare parts?

Many thanks for your answers.

It's got a second heater for the milk froth.
Had one, too, where the heating was calcified!
After manual decalcification it was faultless (Service Mode). The heating is available already completely from 59.-€, they are just as durable as the expensive.

The defective thermoblock has nothing to do with the malfunction during milk foaming.
What exactly does not work? Describe it in more detail.
May be a valve or a pipe is calcified. Or one of the thermal fuses on the steam heating is blown.

With regard to the defective heating circuit you can install a complete thermoblock incl. brewing head for €70,- or - if you have any idea - just replace the pure heating, which then costs almost €30,-.
Gives it e.g. at Komtra.de Art.Nr.5532139700

But at least then at the complete exchange everything is fancy above again.

Thanks for the answers.
I've got a 6.
On the top of the thermoblock I didn't find a separate heater
on the fly, or is there something?

Hey pommes 12,
the 6 means that the thermoblock has 6mm connectors. The new ones all have 5mm connections.
If you order the appropriate spacer rings in addition to the said thermoblock, everything will be fine.
Or, as said, the complete upper brewing head for €70,-.

Of course the thermoblock has something to do with the steam. The steam loop is connected downstream. If only lukewarm water arrives, the heat output is not sufficient for sufficient steam pressure.

Replace block with 5mm block. Order new connections (are usually supplied with the appropriate gaskets, the old ones do not fit). Apply fresh heat conducting paste to the temp. sensor. Due to the reduction by 1mm the water flow is lower, water takes better temperature.

At the docking port for the milk container there is a small hole at the bottom, which likes to clog with milk. Clean with a toothbrush (never with a needle).

then everything should work again

@ kaffeepoint: Yes, sounds logical. I did not consider that aspect. You never stop learning.
