Hi all,

I saw some types of coffee beans on sale at Lidl, my curiosity - based on the description on the package - goes out to the Bellarom Espresso Cremoso (now €8.99/1.2Kg). But experiences with the other variants are also good.

I personally only have experience with (1 pack) Segafredo Intermezzo beans yet, as I just fixed a Schaerer Siena 2 last week. smile.gif

Regards,
Zoef

The coffee is okay, but not my taste.

I prefer Käfer coffee (espresso).

My absolute favorite coffee comes from Luxembourg. Sati Espresso Intenso.

Sati Espresso Intenso, according to their own website, is French.... ohmy.gif
Probably a nice coffee, but not readily available in the Netherlands - where I live.

I bought the Bellarom Espresso Cremoso from Lidl. (on XXL offer €8.99/1.2Kg at Lidl Netherlands)

I chose this variety because of the lowest acidity according to the packaging and the indication that it was very suitable for fully automatic coffee machines.

The coffee does not disappoint, it is a bit similar to the Segafredo Intermezzo in terms of general flavor profile, but that coffee has a specific aroma that this coffee does not have. Nice, but nothing stands out. You can taste that it is slightly more roasted than the Segafredo.

The Lidl espresso is ok - especially for the price, but there are better ones.
I'd say it's good for the office, but only at home if you like the taste.

The Ballarom "GOLD" was 100% Arabica and, as correctly written, it no longer exists. I also thought it was really good.
At least not as a whole bean and, according to hearsay, the ground version probably contains something else - but that's another story.
The reason why the "GOLD" is no longer available is probably the price trend for Arabica, which means it can no longer play in the broad 10-euro league.
And the brand manufacturers are already playing in the next price league, which is probably what they wanted to avoid in terms of sales.
My opinion.

I honestly love them, aroma, strength and lovely smooth flavour tick all the boxes for me. I have a Gaggia Magenta plus and the bean to cup experience using these beans is very satisfying.

In my opinion, this is a questionable product. The beans have a very low fat content. It is extremely difficult to produce a nice crema. I tested the beans with a Mitica Bezerra portafilter machine and a Barazza Forte AP coffee grinder. To produce a crema similar to standard brands in the mid-range such as Segafredo or Lavazza, I need significantly more ground coffee by weight with a much finer grind. As a result, the price difference compared to special offers from the brands mentioned is no longer significant. However, the nice chocolaty taste and the low acidity should be emphasized. Overall, however, I was not convinced by the necessary change in handling. I will therefore no longer use this brand.
