Alt Wien La Réunion Bourbon Pointu Grand Cru

Manufacturer product description

This coffee is one of the best and rarest coffees in the world. Discovered in 1771 on the French island of La Réunion, it was much appreciated at the court of Louis XV and was already a luxury item at that time due to the very small quantities available. Gradually, however, sugar cane took over economic dominance and only a few coffee farmers remained. The Bourbon Pointu is, as the name says, an elongated, pointed coffee that grows on the volcanic slopes of the Piton des Neiges and, as the coffee farmers there believe, reflects the subtlety and diversity of the Creole soul. The declared goal of the plantation operator is to create a coffee that has "terroir". It is prepared wet and then dried in the sun, is naturally low in caffeine and has a pleasant, subtle acidity. We roast this coffee in two stages: first the Screen 15, medium beans, and then separately the Screen 12 beans, which are very small and pointed and contain very little caffeine. The separately roasted beans are then brought together according to a precise ratio. Stimulating balance, aromas of butter pastry and hazelnut to truffles and rocket, fruity notes of lychee, grapefruit and orchids. Dry finish with notes of nut oil and caramel. 100% Arabica
