The name of the village, Rugabo, means 'strong man in Kurundi', the language of Burundi. The so-called washing station was built in 1980 with the help of the World Bank. It has a long tradition of processing high quality coffee. The Rugabo washing station is located at an altitude of 1691 meters, close to the plantations. The time from picking to processing is thus kept to a minimum.
