The large Caribbean island Hispaniola of the Great Antilles consists of the states of Haiti in the west and the Dominican Republic in the east. Northwest is Cuba, southwest is Jamaica. In the centre of the Dominican Republic rises the highest mountain region of the Caribbean, the Cordillera Central with three peaks above 3000 m. Since the beginning of the 19th century, first-class Caribbean coffee has been cultivated on the foothills of these mountains at altitudes of 1200 - 1500 m. There is a microclimate here that is very similar to the climatic conditions of the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. Since the Dominican Republic's main export commodity is still sugar cane, only the cultivation of coffee of special quality is worthwhile for the farmers. Vee's ESPRESSO "Santo Domingo Royal" is a very spicy Gran Cru coffee with well developed, harmonious fullness and fine aromas of dark chocolate, tropical fruits, a hint of bitter almond and very lush, finely structured crema.
