Java has been producing coffee since the Dutch planted the first Arabica trees on the Batavia colony over 300 years ago. The best `Blue Java` is produced on one of the 4 estate plantations Blawan, Jampid, Kayumas and Pankur. The wet processed coffee from Java lacks the taste of'forest soil' (mushrooms, moss, autumn leaves), which characterizes the coffees from Sumatra and above all from Sulawesi. Java has intense to syrupy fullness with aromas of nuts and bitter-sweet chocolate, as well as hints of black pepper.
